At Sunchild Child & Family Services, our Youth Services program is here to walk alongside young people as they discover who they are, where they come from, and where they’re going.
Opportunities to Learn, Connect, and Lead
We believe every youth has the strength to create a meaningful future, and our role is to provide the tools, guidance, and safe spaces to help them get there. Our services are created for young people in our community, blending cultural knowledge, practical skills, and spaces to connect with others:
Traditional Cultural Healing Practices
Access to Elders, ceremony, traditional medicines, and cultural teachings that strengthen identity and belonging.
Support Groups
Safe, welcoming spaces where youth can share experiences, learn from each other, and build friendships.
LGBTQI2S+ Support Groups
Inclusive gatherings that affirm identity, celebrate diversity, and provide peer and mentor support.
Educational Seminars
Workshops on topics that matter most to youth—health, relationships, mental wellness, and more.
Financial Literacy Programs
Practical lessons in budgeting, saving, and money management to prepare youth for independence.
Psychoeducational Groups
Structured sessions focused on building self-awareness, coping skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Getting Involved Starts Here
We make it easy for young people to get involved, whether they’re reaching out for the first time or returning for ongoing support:
- Online: Through our website or social media channels, youth can find information, ask questions, or book a session.
- In-Person Intake: Scheduled meetings with a Youth Services team member to learn about needs and match services.
- Walk-In: Drop by our office during open hours to connect with someone right away.
No matter how you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by staff who listen without judgment, explain what’s available, and help you choose the right next step.
Change That Ripples Through the Community
Our Youth Services program is making a difference, in individual lives and across our community. We’ve seen:
- A stronger sense of belonging among participants, especially through cultural activities and group connections.
- Improved literacy skills, both academic and financial.
- Growth in social and life skills, from communication to decision-making and self-advocacy.
Every young person’s journey is unique, but the goal is the same: helping youth feel grounded in their culture, confident in themselves, and ready to shape their future.
Commitment & Support
Sunchild Child and Family Services is committed to supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ and transgender youth in ways that are respectful, affirming, and safe. Every young person deserves to be seen for who they are, to have their identity respected, and to feel supported.
