Strong Stewardship, Stronger Families

Every dollar tells a story. In our Finance Department, we make sure it’s a story about care, accountability, and community strength.

Core Services That Keep Our Work Strong

  • Budget Planning & Management: We work with leadership and program managers to create budgets that reflect the agency’s priorities. Throughout the year, we keep a close eye on spending, making sure funds are directed where they’re needed most.
  • Financial Reporting & Accountability: From monthly updates to annual statements, we prepare accurate, timely reports for Chief and Council, our Board, funders, and government partners. This ensures our finances are transparent and our progress is easy to track.
  • Payroll & Benefits: Our team makes sure staff are paid on time and that benefits, pensions, and reimbursements are handled smoothly. When the basics are covered, staff can focus fully on supporting families.
  • Funding Compliance: We manage the detailed requirements tied to Indigenous Services Canada, the Government of Alberta, and other funding partners—making sure every agreement is followed and every report is complete.
  • Procurement & Contract Management: From purchasing supplies to overseeing vendor contracts, we ensure every procurement decision is cost-effective, compliant, and supports the needs of our programs.

Keeping it Transparent

Our role is to ensure that every resource is used wisely and transparently, so children, youth, and families in Sunchild First Nation receive the support they deserve. We know funding isn’t just about keeping programs running. It’s what allows us to:

  • Offer culturally safe prevention programs.
  • Maintain safe, welcoming spaces for children and families.
  • Support our staff so they can focus on what matters most.
  • Respond quickly when urgent needs arise.

We’re here to ensure our financial decisions protect the present while building a stronger future.
