Every step we take is rooted in the belief that children are sacred and that their well-being depends on strong, connected families and a proud sense of identity.
In 2022, Sunchild Child & Family Services became a Delegated First Nations Agency, taking jurisdiction over child and family services within the Nation. This shift empowers us to make decisions locally, ensuring services reflect the traditions and values of Sunchild First Nation. It’s a meaningful step toward self-reliance and care shaped by our community’s strengths.
A Cultural Approach to Care
We work closely with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members to keep culture at the heart of all we do. Our work is grounded in Indigenous methodologies that influence how programs are planned and delivered — ensuring supports are respectful, relevant, and effective for the families we serve.
Leadership That Listens
Our leadership team embraces transformational and servant leadership. They bring experience in culture, family preservation, advocacy, compassion, and strength-based practices. Their priority is empowering families and individuals to guide their own paths with dignity and respect.

Our programs and services focus on prevention and cultural safety to strengthen families and community bonds. Together, we’ve made a difference by:
- Keeping families together within their communities, reducing the need for children and youth to enter care.

- Supporting children and youth as they safely return home, reconnecting them with family and culture.
- Raising awareness around mental health to promote wellness without stigma.
- Taking action against violence, creating safer spaces through education and culturally appropriate programs.
